Harris Poll OnlineSM Specialty Panel Descriptions
Here is a sample and brief description of several of the active specialty
panels we manage. This list is only a selection and by no means all-inclusive.
Affluent Specialty Panel
The Affluent Panel is ideal for companies that want to target the wealthy.
This panel consists of members of the Harris Poll Online who have answered the
Harris Interactive standard Investable Assets question.
Our definition of Investable Assets includes:
- cash in checking or savings accounts
- stocks
- bonds
- mutual funds
- any money in IRAs
It does not include primary or secondary residence or assets in any
employer savings or retirement plans including a 401(k) plan. Currently, we
are able to target respondents who have investable assets ranging from less
than $10,000 to $5,000,000 or more.
In the past, when market researchers wanted to research this very
hard-to-reach population, they found it time consuming and expensive;
screening costs and refusal rates were extraordinarily high. But with our
Affluent Panel, we can define and target this group by income total and liquid
assets, and several other criteria.
Chronic Illness Specialty Panel
The Chronic Illness Panel includes Harris Poll Online members who have been
diagnosed with one or more of 60 identified medical conditions such as:
- allergies
- arthritis
- asthma
- depression
- diabetes
- high cholesterol
- multiple sclerosis
This panel also includes people who live with family members who have
chronic conditions. Members of the Chronic Illness Panel help provide critical
information to health care researchers by participating in surveys and in
clinical trials.
Information Technology Decision Makers Specialty
Panel
The Information Technology Decision Makers Panel consists of decision
makers who acquire or recommend office equipment, telecommunications, or
information technology-related products and/or services for their
organization. Many different types of organizations are represented in the
panel including home offices, small offices, and corporations.
Physician Specialty Panel
The Physician Panel consists of practicing physicians involved in
"hands-on" patient care in the United States who have agreed to
participate in online research about health care-related issues. In addition
to primary care physicians, every major medical specialty and sub-specialty is
represented among the members of the panel. The physicians work in
office-based, hospital-based, hospice-based and long-term care-based
practices. Also included in the panel are physicians-in-residence and fellows.
The Physician Panel is used for either quantitative or qualitative
research pertaining to an understanding of physician practices, opinions and
experiences.
- Quantitative studies can be designed to answer questions about brand
awareness and market share, concept testing, ad message testing, need-gap
research, and drug, medical device and technology practices including
tracking studies.
- Qualitative research regarding physicians' views toward the future,
their willingness to adopt new technology and practices, ideas on solving
product problems, and insight into mobilizing physicians around an issue,
can be conducted through online focus groups, bulletin boards and
moderated chats.
If you
are a physician practicing in the United States and are interested in
participating in online research, read more about joining the panel.
Product, Advertising, & Concept Testing Specialty
Panel
The Product, Advertising, and Concept Testing Panel consists of panel
members who offer their opinions on proposed consumer products and advertising
concepts.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, & Transgender Specialty Panel
Our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Panel consists of
respondents who have self-identified as "gay," "lesbian,"
"bisexual," or "transgender". This panel is the
largest of its kind, and allows companies to learn important new details about
brand loyalty and customer preferences, as well as the value, size, and
characteristics of this long overlooked and underserved population.
Youth Specialty Panel
The Youth Panel consists of Harris Poll Online panel members who are 13 to
18 years old. This panel is especially useful for youth marketers, education
marketers and public policy research. The panel has been used for various
research projects with topics ranging from politics and current social issues
to entertainment, sports and technology.
